We are always saddened by the news of lovely wild animals going extinct. We scroll on social media and spare a few moments of silence and contemplation, reflecting on how our children will never be able to see a particular animal moving and breathing anymore.
Then we move on.
The good news, there are saints among us that are working with animals, those on the brink of extinction and those that are close to our hearts, making space for them to survive and thrive in this world that we share.
There is no mistaking that when you marry your job with your passion, you give birth to a purpose. Cheng Joo Chin balances it all full well, being a day-time vet and the owner of NutriBear, a business selling collagen supplements.
Not only that, but buying their collagen also contributes to a beary good cause. 5% of NutriBear collagen sales go to causes that support to save animals and hoo-mans alike!
We wanted to know a little bit more about this beary special person, so we dropped her a few Qs.
Q: What is “empowerment” to you?
Empowerment is owning yourself, having control of your own life (what you want, what you don’t want), not afraid of the opinions of others and be yourself, become stronger and more confident — it’s like self-liberation (you have the power, freedom and rights over yourself).
Q: Let’s talk about your current business/profession, what do you do?
I sell honest and clean high-grade collagen (no fillers and additives or super ingredients just for marketing purposes that don’t actually measure up to the effective dose to cause and effect) to people who are concerned about their health and value their own body. The company also believes in giving back to animal conservation.
Q: Given what you know today if we took a time machine back to the beginning, what would you have done differently?
Nothing. We are all human, everyone makes mistakes. Making mistakes is the oldest and best way of learning. Without mistakes, we will never grow. Everything happens for a reason and leads you to where you are today. So if you go back and do something that you want to do differently, then most probably you will not be who you are, and where you are today.
Q: What would you do if you were the sole survivor on a (possibly) deserted island?
Find a weapon to protect myself and find food. Research on what can be eaten and what cannot be eaten. Build a house and find ways to plant my food (farming).
Q: If you woke up and had 1,000 unread emails and could only answer 100 of them, how would you choose which ones to answer?
Delete all 1000. If there are important ones, they will resend it to you or contact you via Whatsapp or call.
Q: How lucky are you and why?
Lucky enough I guess. To get what I want, have what I want and most importantly have good people around me, good friends, and the consciousness and awareness. To be able to live, able to give, able to love. But I am working towards financial freedom so I can do whatever I want to do.
Q: Shameless plug?
Cold and unfriendly on the outside, but warm and real inside. My collagen may not be the most popular or the cheapest, but I promise you it is one of the best and the most environmentally conscious collagen.Tags: animals business woman collagen endangered animals entrepreneur environmentally conscious health inteview supplements
