Q. Let’s talk about your current business/profession, what do you do?
I run a rental platform for Chanel bags and I also have a full-time job. It is pretty much the whole spectrum of A to Z — exhausting but exhilarating! Luxe for Lease Pte Ltd is basically a bag rental service where anyone can enjoy Chanel bags without having to worry about its price tag. With this kind of service, people, especially ladies, could wear different Chanel bags during different seasons and occasions without breaking the bank. We also provide discounts depending on the specific amount spent.
Q. Tell me something that’s true, that almost nobody agrees with you on.
Academics are so passé.
Q. Given what you know today if we took a time machine back to the beginning, what would you have done differently?
Fretless, be less self-conscious and avoid sending applications to “stable” jobs that don’t resonate with me. Instead, I chose to pursue my passions in business!
Q. What is ’empowerment’ to you?
For me, empowerment means freedom to pursue your ambitions and dreams.
Q. There are ups and downs in life, can you tell us an interesting story?
My son was born with neonatal hepatitis and I couldn’t return to my full-time work. As we were running out of funds, I decided on a whim to start the Chanel rental platform to monetise the “assets” acquired during yuppie days.
Q. What would you do if you were the sole survivor on a (possibly) deserted island?
Pray very hard and maybe collect seashells if there’s a beach! I love those!
Q. What is the funniest thing that has happened to you recently?
I left home in a rush with different shoes on my feet.
Q. How lucky are you and why?
Very blessed. Through the ups and downs of life, I’ve always had a group of solid friendships to bolster and see me through. Real friends give the most honest opinions. They put everything into perspective and also create a sense of purpose in our lives.
Q. If you could only choose one song to play every time you walked into a room for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Bryan Adams’ “Here I am”.
Although there are unforeseen circumstances in life, Xin Ying chose to rise up through the biggest challenges in life and took this as an opportunity to pursue her passion. She knows how to set priorities and is very comfortable in the fast-paced realm of the business industry.
