Branding plays a huge role in one’s business, as it increases its value and gives the consumer a good perception about a specific product and services – and this is where Natalia Davydova is good at; branding.
Natalia is the current Branding Director of GaiaX; a social media solutions for business. Her work entails her to oversee its corporate branding, the long-term strategy, and the organising of weekly events for the company.
In her Canvas account, she also does a little bit of everything from web design, illustrations, motion graphics or animation, copywriting, translations, photography, and events.
We caught up with Natalia to find out what made her become one of the most successful modern women in the industry today, along with some interesting facts that helped shaped her path and calling in life.
Q: Tell me something that’s true, that almost nobody agrees with you on
A: Women are actually superior human beings to men, being able to not only produce humans and nurture them with their own bodies but also multitask, create and seek peace in any situations.
Q: Let’s talk about your current business/profession, what do you do? (Please elaborate)
A: I oversee corporate branding for Gaiax group. I am in charge of everything from a long-term strategy to organizing weekly events, promoting the company’s activities on social networks and creating branding assets (images, videos, animations, photography etc). Everything is done in-house with the help of 3 other team members.
“Having said that, I try to live without regrets by taking lots of risks. When I fail, I fail knowing that I have tried.”
Q: Given what you know today, if we took a time machine back to the beginning, what would you have done differently?
A: I would have valued the two most important assets – time and health with more value. When we are young, we have this naive sense of immortality thinking that we have plenty of time for everything.
In reality, years pass faster than we think leaving us with less and fewer opportunities. If I knew then what I know now, I would have taken initiatives and been bolder at a much earlier stage in my life. I would have cared for myself better too. Having said that, I try to live without regrets by taking lots of risks. When I fail, I fail while knowing that I have tried my best.
Q: There are ups and downs in life, can you tell us an interesting story?
A: I cherish my downs as they help me learn and become wiser, stronger and more resilient. I take a lot of risks in my life and it brings me much interesting experience. At the age of 21, I found a programming internship in Japan. I came here without being able to speak the language or knowing how to program. I literally faked it till I made it.
Basically, I was learning to program on the go, earning just barely enough to eat, took whatever extra jobs that fell into my path (teaching English, modelling, translating, writing) and it finally brought me to where I am today.
“I cherish my downs as they help me learn and become wiser, stronger and more resilient.”
Natalia’s achievement in the marketing industry is a tough act to follow. She looks at life differently and believes that hardship in life eventually pays off if you have enough confidence and a positive outlook on life.
She is fearless and full of ideas, which one can learn a thing or two from to help achieve set goals. Natalia is a fantastic role model for every modern woman out there – striving, learning, and not afraid of taking risks.
